Pen, Ink and Wire
Art is emotion and experience mixed with thought and fantasy. Through this body of work I hope to show that art can come from anywhere, even the mundane - whether it be sitting in a coffee shop, getting an oil change or late night thoughts. Spending time in a sketchbook for the first few months of this project and discovering the world around me on a different level helped to uncover more within myself. This process of the fragmentation of my life is projected in both illustrations and wire sketches.
The simplicity of the illustrations leaves room for further elaboration and questioning. The wire sketches are simplified even more, casting shadows that distort the original object forming an abstract limbo between fiction and reality. Through this display I aim to become vulnerable while giving insight into my process of creating. I fragment my experience and leave the pieces behind, encouraging the viewer to create their own unique narrative from my personal life.
